"UGJ and I-Shou University Signing an Innovative Partnership Doc: Unleashing Opportunities for UGJ Students in Dual Degree Programs"

Cirebon — A warm and enthusiastic ambiance filled the air during the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati (UGJ) Cirebon and I-Shou University Taiwan on Monday, December 4, 2023. Distinguished attendees included Dr. Huang-Wenshen, Ph.D., Vice-Dean of International Affairs at I-Shou University, Taiwan; Dr. Rian Achmad Syathori, ST, M.Sc from Bina Cendekia Utama Foundation; Ali Wardhana from Grand Wisata Cirebon, and Fransisca A. Gunawan, an alumna of I-Shou University.

Representing UGJ, Dr. Cita Dwi Rosita, Vice Rector 4, expressed heartfelt gratitude in her opening statement. Special acknowledgment was extended to Dr. Huang-Wenshen, Ph.D., for his prior engagement with UGJ's Faculty of Engineering students. Dr. Cita emphasized the forum's significance in fostering relationships for an innovative and interconnected academic future. "This forum is not just a formal meeting; it is a stage for us to build relationships towards a more innovative and interconnected academic future," Dr. Cita stated enthusiastically.

The FGD, led by Dr. Roghibatul Luthfiyyah, M.Pd, Head of UGJ's International Affairs Office, featured a presentation introducing UGJ's profile to I-Shou University guests. She proposed collaborative programs, including student exchanges with credit transfers, research collaborations, and community service. Additionally, she extended an invitation to an expert from I-Shou University, Taiwan, to be a guest speaker at the UGJ International Conference scheduled for the upcoming year.

Furthermore, Dr. Huang-Wenshen, Ph.D., presented an intriguing Dual Degree program with a 3+2+2 formula. This program offers UGJ students the chance to study at I-Shou University, intern, and work in Taiwan for 2 years, earning degrees from both institutions. "We have a Dual Degree program where students study for three years at UGJ, two years at I-Shou University, and two years working in partner companies," he explained.

Finally, I-Shou University welcomed collaborative program offers from UGJ, including community service opportunities for Indonesian employees in Taiwan. Dr. Huang mentioned a Summer Camp program, facilitating exchanges between UGJ and I-Shou University students. "This is an extraordinary collaboration as it provides an opportunity for UGJ students to gain learning and working experience in Taiwan, earning a dual degree," said the Head of UGJ's International Affairs Office in concluding this event.
